For his spring ’09 collection, designer Ralph Lauren turned to Africa for inspiration. His runway was strewn with brown camp shirts, bronze or white linen suits, trenches and harem pants – not to mention turbans and Indiana Jones hats. There were even gold flasks with stone details.

The collection’s other handbags were not quite as props-y as the golden hip flask, but they played up the rich yet laid back theme just as well.

Take the Ralph Lauren Crocodile Ricky Bag for instance. It is made of hand-selected African Crocodile with custom made Italian hardware. The bag has belt details in the front, running down either side of the handles. The interior is lined with leather with snap and zip inside pockets.
