International designers and fashion enthusiasts gathered at the World Trade Center for another successful season of Dubai’s Fashion Fiesta 2008, a part of Dubai’s Summer Surprises 2008.
The event, which opened last July 24, 2008, boasts of 11 designers who will feature their collections on Dubai’s world-renowned ramp. Some of these famous designers include Deanoor (Italy), Ritu Kumar (India), Preeti Chandra (India), Larisa Karts (Holland), Deeya Nanda (India), Falguni & Shane Peacock (India), Dia (UAE), Jessica Joyce (Holland), SARV Atelier (India), Mystic Mantra (India), and Amato (UAE). The highlight on the first day will be the collections of Zahara Mohammed, who presented her collections at the Miami Fashion Week this year.
Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Shopping Festival said, "Dubai Fashion Fiesta is a prominent fixture in the list of fashion events that have contributed to reinforcing Dubai’s status as the fashion hub in the region. As a Mega Event in DSS this year, the DSF Office is endeavoring to organize, host, and support similar events that add to Dubai’s unchallenged position in the region’s fashion industry."
On Sunday, July 27, designers and fashion enthusiasts alike, flocked to the finale of the event, as SARV Atelier (India), Mystic Mantra (India), and Amato (UAE) displayed their collections to mark the end of the four-day global fashion event.
The distinguishing feature of this years collections were the clean-cut gown and intricate-embroidery. Hairstyles and make-ups did not fail to the attention of the fashionable crowd which gathered at the venue.
Dubai Fashion Fiesta is designed to generate wider media attention because of the high profile participants. It is also aimed at promoting Dubai as the fashion hub of the region.
