For Rodarte’s Fall runway show, stylist Odile Gilber was inspired by the way the collection used fabric and texture – and by the models’ footwear.
"The shape of the chignon is simple, but the texture is complex. "Like the collection, which plays with fabric and texture, the look is sleek in front with an architectural, modern chignon in back."
During the pre-runway show hair test, Gilbert looked on as dressers wrapped the models’ legs with the crisscrossed laces of the Nicholas Kirkwood thigh-high boots, and decided to add lacing into the models’ hairstyles as well.
First, Gilbert prepped the models’ tresses with Aveda Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener. She then blow dried the models’ hairs and then pulled them up into low-off center ponytails. Next, she parted the ponytails into two sections and secured them with an elastic string at the base. She twisted a string down the length of one section, and did the same on the remaining section. The stylist then fashioned the rope braids into a square-shaped bun, and finished with a spray of Aveda Air Control Hair Spray.
