Versace Fall 2009

Versace

Donatella Versace has definitely put the days of over-bling way, way behind her. Her fall collection is focused on working metallics and neutrals.

Versace’s Fall 2009 runway displayed adorned trench coats, biker jackets and skinny cargo pants.

That’s not to say the Versace collection was bated. Dresses floated down the runway one after the other, either long, flowy, Greek-goddess style or short and strewn with paillettes, showing that Donatella Versace can do a mean drape to anyone who dares to ask.

This pre-fall collection though introduced the some changing design isms, as pointed put by Style.com’s Sarah Mower.

    • "Noticeably, it was the girls who could fill out the dresses who looked best in these clothes-and knew it. To see Carmen Kass, Coco Rocha, Isabeli Fontana, and the newly (slightly more) curvy Lily Donaldson work these dresses with visible confidence was an encouraging reminder that, yes, some things can get better with age." Handbags

Versace’s 2009 hanbag collection also showed a lit less bling and a lot more sophistication.

The colors are mostly similar to the dresses, in blues, reds, blacks and neutrals.

The collection featured this rather odd bucket-shaped totes with parallel line stitching details on the sides. The totes have short handles with two covered pockets in front, and were made of either metallic leather or exotic material.

The hobos were also very fetching with a short, studded handle, a long leather handle (that starts from the front) and metal frame. The hobos also also have two front pockets, each with a belt-detail.

The tiny handbags are a favorite. With belt detail in front, taking up most of the bag’s overlap, and stud detail running along the belt’s perimeter. The small handbags are made of leather and exotic materials, with metal hardware.

The pouches were fairly simple, with studs and a single stone detail.
