I think Stella McCartney made a smooth transition from her Spring ’09 collection to her Pre-fall ’09 collection.Her signature slouchy, oversized tailoring, laidback chic/cool-chick, sexy feminine style is ever present in her designs.

And from this Spring’s way-down-there plunging tailored jumpsuits, little cocktail dresses and coveralls, Stella McCartney shifted to Pre-fall still carrying her signature styles. Only this time, the designer went for dark hues and stand-alone pieces. ‘Oversizing’ and ‘slouchiness’ are still evident as seen on her outerwear pieces. The designer also experimented with architectural lines; the shapes were full or slim, emphasized by rounded or wide sleeves. Mini dresses were present as well, sporting animal prints, as did jumpsuits. The over-all color palette is dark, occasionally broken by some beige, off-white and other nude colored pieces – and unexpected red and purple numbers.

Handbags

The handbags – mostly hobos – also displayed the somber color palette, with a purple oversized hobo here, and beige one there. The clutches were all black, designed with gold-rimmed perforations. Most, if not all of the collection’s handbags were made of patent leather.
