Tips to Healthy Eating

eating healthyAll girls dream of walking down the aisle looking like the perfect bride. Perfect meaning, beautiful, willowy, and slim.

Brides go on crazy diets to achieve that Sports Illustrated body. Unfortunately though, for most of us, these are unrealistic goals. Instead of crash dieting, brides should think of eating healthy. Eating right can help you lose pounds and still provide the energy you need to go about your pre-wedding activities. Eating healthy also has plenty of beauty benefits.

Keep a food journal

Keep track of what you eat every day. This way, it is easier for you to make changes in your diet.

Which foods to avoid

NYC trainer David Kirsch makes it as simple as ABCDEF – literally. Limit you intake of alcohol, bread, (starchy) carbs, dairy, extra sweeteners and fats.

Portion control

Experts suggest eating five small meals per day, instead of the usual three large ones. Experts also warn against having seconds.

Eat breakfast

A lot of experts recommend eating breakfast but still, few people realize the importance eating the first meal of the day. Not only does eating breakfast make you feel fuller for longer, it also helps normalize your blood sugar level and keeps you feel energized all day.

Go for veggies

Vegetables should make up for a sizable portion of your meals. This means less room for calorie-packed meats. Vegetables should be steamed, grilled or raw.

Healthy snack alternatives

Instead of reaching for highly fattening, calorie-laden sweets and cake, opt for fruits, roasted nuts and whole-grain crackers.

Drink lots of water

Water helps you eliminate toxins from the body and keeps your skin clear and younger looking. Drinking plenty of water makes your stomach think that it’s full so won’t crave for food as much.

Fat free”?

Don’t be swayed by labels such as ‘fat-free’, ‘non-fat’, etc. Fat-free foods may still be loaded with calories. To be sure, check the nutrition facts at the back of the package.

Avoid bloating

Salty foods cause the body to retain fluids which can make you feel and appear bloated. To avoid this, do not eat foods that are high in sodium, such as soups, sauces and processed foods.

Champagne

Experts suggest opting for champagne instead of other alcoholic drinks.
