Fabrics range from natural fibers such as cotton, duck, linen, canvas, and jute, to manufactured materials, including nylon and vinyl.

  • Edges: turned, bound, welt or burnished
  • Handles: the most durable handle is the one that is mounted using metal or metal-reinforced bases
  • Shoulder straps: mounted at a bag’s stress points; could be detachable.    
  • Pull-straps: frequently attached to suitcases with wheels.
  • Zippers: polyester coils, continuous molded zippers, brass and other metal zipper
  • Locks: padlocks and key locks that attach to zipper pulls are used on soft and semi-soft constructions
  • Wheels: minimize damage to the bottom of the case.
