Michael Kors Designer Profile

Michael Kors

Michael Kors is an American designer who has successfully branched out to different collections from women’s clothing, men’s watches, to leather handbags. He began his fashion career at age 19 as a designer and merchandiser for Lothar’s boutique in New York City, which was quickly noticed by the fashion press. Kors eventually left the brand in 1981 and started his own women’s collection, which were sold at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue.

After earning immense success from his women’s line, Kors launched his accessories collection in 2001 that includes a full range of women’s handbags, shoes, belts, and eyewear. Accessories were also included in his second collection called Michael Michael Kors, which were launched in Fall of 2004. Like all of his previous fashion endeavors, Kors’ accessory line centers on the chic, luxurious, and American.

Overall, his handbag collections have been characterized by critics and enthusiasts as functional and classical. Each bag fits perfectly for different occasion, either using a large white leather tote bag during the day or carrying a sophisticated snakeskin clutch by night.
