Lotions, creams, powders and soaps, along with your natural skin oils will give your ring a nasty film build-up. Air-borne chemicals can also slightly oxidize the mountings. It’s important to give your ring a regular cleaning so here are a few things to do:
Soak your diamond ring in a solution of mild liquid detergent and hot water. Any mild detergent is fine.
Use a soft brush if necessary to remove dirt. Soft brush is important to don’t scratch the ring’s metal setting. A tooth brush is fine.
Let the ring soak for at least 10 minutes. Rinse well under hot water. Close the drain or put the ring in a strainer to keep from losing it! Feel free to use a buffing cloth afterwards to give your band a shine.
You can clean your ring when you see film build-up. Cleans it about once a week, or before going out for a special occasion.
Clean at will, but protect regularly. Take the ring off when taking a dip in the pool or doing chores because chemicals like chlorine and bleach will ruin and can even eat away at gold.
