Just like in any establishments, spas have unwritten rules that you should follow for you to get the optimum treatment that you deserve. We should first discuss what you should not do in a spa.
Arriving on the dot – Don’t arrive for a 2 p.m. appointment at exactly 2 p.m. Arrive at the spa about 20 minutes earlier so you could check in, change into a robe, and relax. You could also arrive earlier if you want to enjoy the steambath and sauna.
Talking about problems – Try not to spend your spa treatment talking about your problems at work, with your spouse, your young kids, etc. Just close your eyes and relax during the whole treatment. All your stresses would just go away.
Getting all sweaty – Avoid appearing before your therapist all sweaty right after a workout. How about a quick shower to show your courtesy?
Getting straight to treatment after a Jacuzzi – Rinse the chlorine off your skin right after stepping out of the Jacuzzi. It’s not good for your skin.
Talking to the cellphone – Whether it’s the meditation room, the locker room, or even at the massage room, never ever talk on the cellphone. Just leave it at the locker to prevent disturbing others from relaxing.
Treating the staff like servants – If you want to be treated like a queen, don’t consider the staff as your servants. They don’t like clients who do not cooperate.
Expecting miracles – Don’t expect that you would get rid of all your muscle tension in one massage. Regular treatment does the trick.
Rushing off right after you treatment – To get the most out of your spa experience, you need time to rest after having a massage, treatment, or facial.
Forgetting to tip – Each spa center has a different way of accepting tips. Some staff would leave envelopes on the massage bed, which you would have to put the tip in and leaving it on the reception. Others would just wait by your treatment room. Giving tips is showing your appreciation to the staff’s service.
Eating heavily after the treatment – Don’t go having a heavy dinner or wine right after the treatment. Take it easy and drink plenty of water.
